InSports Hockey Clinic
Practicing on the same ice as the pros is a dream for many. InSports teamed up with New Directions of North Minneapolis to host 22 youth hockey players at an InSports hockey clinic at the Xcel Energy Center. The hour on the ice was spent polishing shooting, puck handling, and skating skills. Following the camp, each student had the opportunity to write down 3 personal goals they had as well as a health goal they would like to accomplish this year. Athletes went home with a healthy MATTER snack, goal sheet, and great memories!
New Directions Youth Ministry
New Directions is a club for all youth in North Minneapolis between 12 and 19 years old. New Directions offers Advocacy, Counseling, and programs such as Tutoring, Hockey, Figure Skating, Religious Activities, Peer Counseling, Outdoor Adventure and Young Neighbors to promote personal growth and self sufficiency. Members plan monthly outings, raise money for club activities and help out in their community.

The InSports Foundation will be participating in Giving Hearts Day on February 8th 2018 in honor of Zach Kraft, a passionate hockey player from Fargo who lost his battle to cancer at the young age of 22. The funds raised during this day are used to grant youth hockey players from Fargo, Moorhead, and Grand Forks with the Zach Kraft Scholarship which helps waive the fees of their hockey expenses. Help us keep Kraft’s legacy alive and kids in the game by donating on February 8th!
Growing up in Grand Forks, naturally Zach began playing hockey as a kid and instantly became passionate about the sport. When he moved to Fargo his sophomore year of high school, he continued playing hockey, resulting in scoring the game winning goal in the 2012 North Dakota state championship game – which he always dreamed about! Kraft went on to play on various teams in the Midwest, including appearances on the Fargo Force, Aberdeen Wings, and Wisconsin Wilderness.
The Zach Kraft scholarship was inspired by Zach’s dedication to the game of hockey and his ability to encourage others to give their best on and off the ice. Through this scholarship we will inspire kids at a young age to work hard, set goals, and never stop believing in themselves. Last year we were honored to grant 5 families who were going through hardships the opportunity to allow their player to continue to stay in the game. Join our mission on Giving Hearts Day!
Throughout the 2017 season, Saint Paul Saints fans had the opportunity to participate in the Tennis Ball Toss, sponsored by Innovative Office Solutions at the end of every home game at the beautiful CHS Field. Following the game, hula hoops were set up behind first, second, third, and home base and a prize was awarded to the winner who was closest to the hoops. With thousands of participants this season, the Saints donated 50% of the proceeds to InSports for a second year!
We want to give a big thank you to the Saints Organization for donating $6,558.25 to help further our mission of helping kids get in the game and to Innovative for sponsoring the program! We look forward to using the funds to expand our InSports Day, Scholarship, and Team Sponsorship programs!
Next time you’re at a Saints game, don’t miss out on participating in the Innovative Tennis Ball Toss!
As the Edison Tommies geared up for their game against the Humboldt Hawks, they were not expecting the surprise that was waiting for them past the locker room doors.
Xavier Rhodes teamed up with InSports to surprise the Tommie's as a guest coach at their Friday night game and a $1,000 team scholarship! After being shown continuous support for his annual toy drive, Rhodes was impressed with this groups dedication to give back to the community and wanted to give back in a unique way!
We want to give a big thank you to the Edison Coaches and Teams for welcoming InSports to the Tommie family for the night!

Through our partnership with the Minnesota Lynx, InSports hosted the 2nd annual InSports Day at the Xcel Energy Center for 50 girls from all over Minnesota. Families were invited to join us for a goal setting session, hour clinic led by the Minnesota Basketball Academy, and the last game of the season vs the Washington Mystics!
During the goal setting session, girls attending the camp have the opportunity to sit down with an InSports leader and write down their goals in sports, with teammates, and for the school years. Participants are encouraged to share their goals with their friends, family, and teachers. Following the session girls attended the last Lynx game at the Xcel Energy Center before they move to their new Target Center home in October.
The hour clinic was lead by Troy with the Minnesota Basketball Academy who has experience working with kids of all ages and professional athletes. This clinic taught girls dribbling and shooting skills that could be used in their upcoming basketball clinic.
We would like to thank our volunteers, staff, MN Lynx, MN Basketball Academy, participants and their families for making this event a success!
