By Kallie Nichols Last week, InSports partnered with Hopkins Public Schools to help kids get exposure to sports by putting on an InSports Day at each of the four Hopkins Elementary Schools. Nearly 100 kids participated in stations where they tried different sports and engaged in a team building activity. The days were filled with laughter, cheering, and excitement while the kids tried football, soccer, basketball, kickball, and track and field. For many of the students, this was their first time picking up a football or basketball. A vast number of kids in this summer program are on free and reduced lunch programs, so with the help of our partners at MATTER, the day concluded with each student taking home a box full of healthy snacks. It was an unforgettable experience for the kids, student athletes and volunteers who made this day a success. Each day, the kids learned about coachability, sportsmanship, and work ethic. These are the core values InSports teaches the students throughout each camp. The kids were able to walk away from the day with new sports skills as well as exposure to the InSports values. InSports is proud to partner with community programs like Hopkins to reach kids in the community!
