By Samantha Romero ![]() On August 28th, InSports had the opportunity to partner with the Minnesota Lynx and Minnesota Timberwolves Basketball Academy to host a "We Are Women" InSports day for over 80 girls from all over Minnesota. The day included a presentation by inspirational woman in Minnesota, a 2 hour camp on the Courts at Mayo Clinic Square, followed by the MN Lynx game vs. Seattle Storm. The girls also had the chance to take Target Center court and shoot a free throw following the Lynx game. The day was kicked off with a presentation from women business leaders including Jennifer Smith, Julie Owens, Diane Holland, and Bridget Martini from Innovative Office Solutions and Medtronic. They were encouraged to write down their goal today, their goal with teammates and their goal in sports. Healthy snacks from Matter were also provided for all participants! After the presentation the girls took on the court. They practiced their dribbling, shooting, and passing skills on the same courts the professionals practice on! The camp was led by the Timberwolves Basketball Academy coaches and InSports volunteers. We are so excited to have been able to provide this opportunity for girls in the community. The day ended with the MN Lynx game vs. the Seattle Storm. Each participant invited a parent/guardian to join in on the fun! We would like to thank the MN Lynx, MN Basketball Academy, Matter, and all of the participants for making this event successful! We are excited to continue our journey of getting kids IN the game! By Samantha Romero On Monday, August 15th InSports kicked off the 3rd Annual InSports Golf Tournament at Victory Links Golf Club in Blaine, MN. This year’s event was the most successful and well attended golf tournament, with over $28,000 raised to help kids get in the game! Over 104 golfers joined us for a day of golf to support InSports. The tournament was followed by a raffle, silent auction, lunch, cocktails, and presentation from the InSports team. The money raised will allow us to continue to organize InSports Days for youth in our community, provide Scholarships and Team Sponsorships for kids in need. We would like to thank our sponsors, participants, volunteers, and attendees. Without all of your support Our Work simply would not be possible.
